The road continues through the lush forests and open to the surprise of its monuments, such as the castle of Pambre or the historic center of Melide.

We are in the region of A Ulloa, immortalized by the writer Emilia Pardo Bazán in her famous novel Los pazos de Ulloa (1886).

sign_edited_edited_edited_edited.png

After Melide, the Camino passes through Boente and Castañeda to reach Arzúa, a cheese-making town with an important offer of rural and active tourism, especially in the vicinity of the Portodemouros reservoir.

Arzúa - Pedrouzo

Stage 5

20 km

sign_edited_edited_edited_edited.png

Almost halfway between Arzúa and Santiago lies O Pedrouzo—making it a sensible layover before completing this nearly 40-km stretch.

The walk from Arzúa to O Pedrouzo meanders through gentle hills and unpaved trails frequently near Road N-547.

O Pedrouzo - Santiago de Compostela

Stage 6

14 km

sign_edited_edited_edited_edited.png

The concluding stage from O Pedrouzo towards Santiago de Compostela marks your final steps along the French Route.

Once in Santiago, remember to collect your Compostela at the Pilgrim’s Office and explore the historic streets and Plaza del Obradoiro. Don't forget about the pilgrim's passport!

With any remaining vigor, contemplate pushing onwards to Muxía. It's also advisable to attend Pilgrim’s Mass at the Santiago Cathedral, a traditional end to the pilgrimage route and UNESCO world heritage site.

Congratulations!

Frequently asked questions
FAQs

Q

Can I do other routes with my dog on the Camino de Santiago?

Yes, you can do other routes with your dog on the Camino de Santiago. Just ask us, and we will ensure it all works out smoothly, including arranging dog-friendly hotels and accommodations. Contact us to plan your pet-friendly pilgrimage.

Q

What is the canine credential and how does it work?

The canine credential is an initiative created by APACA in March 2018 to promote pilgrimage with our dogs, offering more and better services for our furry pilgrims and encouraging ethical, civic, and friendly coexistence on the Camino de Santiago. Its use is simple: it works the same way as the human credential, getting stamped along the way. Before reaching Santiago, during the last stage, you need to contact APACA to receive your well-deserved Canine Compostela.

You can contact them by phone or WhatsApp at 604 028 306 or by email at credencialcanina@paradoxahumana.com. For more information, you can visit this link.
